Dear Member, Friends and Family of the Chinatown Community Young Lions (CCYL) and the Chinatown Community Youths (CCY).
The volunteer Staff and Senior Members wanted to send a thank you note to all of you for donating your time and tired less effort to keeping our programs healthy and viable. A special “Thank You” to all the private businesses that have hired and continue to support our programs throughout the year.
This year we added over fifty new members to our program and we welcomed ten babies to our extended family. We had quite a few first time parade participants and the largest convoy of baby strollers ever to be in New York’s Chinatown Chinese New Year Parade. Hopefully they will represent the up and coming generations of CCYL & CCY members. I know that many of us who were there at the start over thirty years ago never quite envisioned we would be watching our sons and daughters performing along side of us in the parade.
We continued our philanthropic activities, by donating our services and providing support to local area schools, hospitals and other organizations that support visual and cultural arts. As well as those that just needed a little cheering up and blessing for the New Year. We also blessed the New York City Mayor’s Office for the New Year. PHOTOS
The Year of the Monkey was a special year. The weather was cold, but the Sun was shining. Everyone who came out had a wonderful time and cultural enriching experience. We had over two hundred and fifty members turn out for the Chinese New Year Parade and over a hundred and fifty the following Sunday. Thanks again to our Senior Members who had traveled from as far as Hong Kong, Canada, Hawaii and California in their continued support of our programs.
We look forward to seeing each and every one of our members throughout the year and to those of you that are far away, but close to our hearts we will see you all again in the Year Of The Rooster.
